I grew up in the Soviet Union and spent several years in a remote military garrison in Kamchatka because my father was stationed there as a naval officer. The contrast between the harsh, cold everyday life there and my hometown of St. Petersburg – with its imperial architecture and cultural splendor – was immense. In a small garrison cinema, I loved watching Hollywood and European films full of glitz and glamour. They opened up dream worlds to me – with elegant women, sunlit cafes, delicate gestures, and a touch of magic. These images were deeply imprinted. I know today: a harsh environment is not good for the soul – we need beauty to heal and grow. That's why, for many years, I have consciously dedicated myself to aesthetics and elegance in my art.
