More than just color: The art of craftsmanship in my female portraits

Acrylmalerei - Sinnliche Frauenporträts von Künstlerin Ekaterina Moré

There are many portraits of women – but how many of them truly touch you?
How often do you look at a picture and ask yourself: "Was this really painted – by hand, with patience, with heart?" In times when AI images are created in seconds and mass prints dominate the internet, many people long for something real. For art that not only looks beautiful but also has tangible depth.

My women's portraits are not created digitally, not by mouse clicks and algorithms. They are created through time, dedication, and craftsmanship – in my studio, with real brushes, real paint, and real emotions.

Perhaps you feel it too: this growing longing for things that last. For clarity, for art that doesn't deceive but expresses something true.

If you are looking for a picture that is more than just decoration – then you have come to the right place.

1. Why I love acrylic – and how my very own technique was born 🎨

There are colors that simply lie on the canvas – and there are colors that begin to glow as if from within. It is precisely this depth, this quiet radiance, that led me to acrylic painting over 20 years ago.

It was love at first sight. The luminosity, the fast drying time, the versatility – all of this fascinated me. Before that, I had worked with oil, but I soon felt that acrylic suited my style and my energy much better. And it protects my health – no turpentine, no pungent odor. Instead, pure pigments, immediate effect, and a free, lively painting process.

Over time, I developed my own technique. I work in layers – patiently, often with pure colors, without any admixture of white. This makes the tones richer, clearer, and more luminous. For special accents, I also use oil pastels – they bring a tangible texture into play, a fine roughness that is also visually noticeable.

What many don't know: I shape some of my brushes myself. I shorten bristles, cut off sides – until the tool allows exactly the movement I need. This creates lines, surfaces, and transitions that appear almost printed in their precision – but are created with nothing but a brush and hand.

Finally, I finish each work with several layers of gloss varnish. This not only protects but also makes the colors glow. This brilliance is no illusion – it is the result of experience, sensitivity, and genuine craftsmanship.

2. Craftsmanship with soul – what you (don't) see in my pictures 🎨

"That looks like it's sprayed – is that really painted with a brush?"
I hear that often. And yes – every color gradient, every line, every surface in my women's portraits is created with a brush. No airbrush, no trick, no printing process. It is the result of decades of manual practice, countless hours in the studio, and a technique that I have refined over time.

Some viewers say: "It looks so easy." And that's precisely the point.
True mastery is shown when something appears simple – even though it is highly complex. Behind a seemingly perfect transition, there are often four layers of the finest work. Days of rework, overpainting, stepping back – and starting anew.

Especially with large-format pictures – over two meters – it is a challenge to maintain this even calmness in the brushstroke. But it is precisely this meticulousness that gives my works their quiet power. What you see is visible craftsmanship. What you feel is soul.

3. Two styles – two signatures: Technique in the transformation of the line 🎨

My art moves between two stylistic worlds – each with its own signature, technique, and expressive power. Both are connected by my desire to make women visible as radiant, powerful beings. But the path to achieving this is completely different in each case.

Feminine Glamourism – Modern clarity with vintage depth

This style is my homage to Art Deco – elegant, sensual, strong.
I start with a warm priming in ocher or gold tones. Then I slowly build up the portrait. I overpaint certain areas 3–4 times until they have exactly the softness and depth I feel. I consciously work with clear forms, strong contours, and a touch of retro glamour.

The colors are noble, often muted – Bordeaux, deep blue, delicate beige. And yet they radiate – thanks to the many fine layers on top of each other. A special glow is created by the final coat of varnish, which brings depth and light into the picture. Feminine Glamourism looks like a film still – a moment full of dignity, style, and history.

Flowism – Color as feeling, movement as form

Flowismus-Stil: Künstlerhand malt ein dynamisches Frauenporträt – fließende Linien und leuchtende Farben

In Flowism, however, it's about what flows: emotion, energy, vitality. Here I work with luminous colors, with pigments that truly blossom.
The priming is special – it makes the colors almost glow "from within". With the brush, I rub them in certain places, especially in the shadows of the female bodies. This creates that almost glowing effect that many find so fascinating.

There are no hard edges here. Forms dance. Colors gently overlap, in many glazes. With oil pastels, I introduce rougher accents in places – a contrast that creates depth. Flowism thrives on dynamics – like an emotional dance on canvas.

Both styles address different aspects of femininity – the strong presence and the quiet movement. What connects them? My love for handmade work and the wish that you feel when you look at it: This picture was not just painted – it was lived.

4. Why technique is no coincidence – but trained mastery 🎨

In a world where everything is becoming faster, simpler, smoother, craftsmanship almost seems like a quiet luxury. But therein lies its power.

My technique is not a coincidence. It is the result of over 25 years of daily studio work, experiments, detours, and refinement. I didn't just paint – I studied, observed, improved. I adapted, sharpened, and reshaped my brushes myself. Why? Because no tool did exactly what I needed. So I recreated it – like a custom-made piece for my vision.

In contemporary art, the concept often counts more than the skill. But what remains when the concept goes out of fashion? For me, technique is not a secondary matter. It is a language. It allows me to make depth, light, and feeling so visible that you can feel it – without words.

I admire people who truly master their craft.
Whether carpenter, goldsmith, or tailor – they all share a quiet excellence and a deep connection to what they do. This reverence for genuine craftsmanship accompanies me with every painting.

Because for me, art is not a quick effect, not just an eye-catcher –
it is precision, patience, and lived devotion.

5. Every portrait is unique – and why you feel it 🎨

You see a portrait of a woman. The colors seem to glow as if from another dimension. The woman feels close – yet otherworldly. You ask yourself: Why does this picture feel so different from what I usually see?

The answer lies in the detail. Each of my paintings is unique – no print, no AI, no series production. I don't paint from templates or photos, I don't copy faces. Each work arises from an inner impulse, with real paint, real time, and real intention.

When you stand in front of one of my paintings, you feel this authenticity. The many layers, the structure beneath the smooth surface, the small irregularities that only become visible when you get close. They all tell the story of the painting's journey – of its creation, its growth, its maturity.

A collector once told me: "Your painting is like a silent mirror. I recognize not just a woman in it – I recognize myself."

And that's exactly my goal: A painting that doesn't just hang there, but lives with you.

6. FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Acrylic Painting & my Original Paintings 🎨

1. Are your works entirely hand-painted?

Yes – each and every one of my works is a unique hand-painted piece. No prints, no AI, no reproductions. From the first brushstroke to the last layer of varnish, each painting is created in my studio – with high-quality paints, plenty of time, and genuine dedication. If you look closely, you'll see fine textures, translucent layers, and details that only real, vibrant painting can show.

2. How durable are acrylic paintings?

Very durable. I exclusively use high-quality artist paints with high lightfastness and several layers of gloss varnish for additional protection. This ensures that the colors remain vibrant and the surfaces protected – even for decades. An original painting is therefore also an investment in lasting quality.

3. Can I clean or maintain the painting?

Yes – my works are particularly easy to care for due to the varnish. You can gently wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Please do not use aggressive cleaning agents or abrasive sponges – then you will enjoy your original for a long time.

4. What is the difference to AI-generated images?

AI images are created in seconds – mine in weeks. In my women's portraits, you'll find not only aesthetics but also depth, personality, and craftsmanship. Every line, every color surface bears the traces of lived experience. This difference is visible – and palpable.

5. Can I commission an individual portrait of a woman or a custom painting?

Yes, very gladly. Whether as a commissioned work, a heartfelt gift, or a customized dream painting – I will personally guide you from the initial conversation to the finished work. We will discuss the style, color palette, and mood together – and create a painting that not only suits you but also speaks to you.

6. Can works be hung immediately – or is a frame necessary?

Yes, my canvas paintings on stretcher frames can be hung directly. I deliberately design the side edges with a black border – creating an elegant frame effect without additional framing.
Of course, you can also have the work framed individually: a shadow gap frame, a modern gold frame, or even an antique style can wonderfully emphasize the effect depending on the room design.
I do not offer framing myself, but I would be happy to advise you on the appropriate choice – so that your artwork is perfectly showcased.

7. When art becomes an invitation – and you see more than just a picture 🎨

In a time when so much seems artificial, interchangeable, and fleeting, we are allowed to long for something real again. Something that lasts.
A hand-painted portrait of a woman is more than a beautiful picture. It is a statement. A quiet resistance against superficiality. And an invitation to let depth, sensuality, and strength back into your life.

If you long for art that touches you, then you've come to the right place.
Each of my works is created with quiet devotion, masterful craftsmanship, and a clear vision: your space should remind you – of your own radiance, your femininity, your presence.

Perhaps you would like a unique piece that suits you perfectly. Or you have a specific mood, an idea, a memory that you would like to transform into color. I would be happy to assist you.

Let's create an artwork together that not only illuminates your walls but also your inner self. Because true art begins where technique meets soul – and a picture speaks to you.
