Beauty will save the world – On inner radiance, femininity and the art of celebrating life

Schönheit in der Kunst - Art Deco Originalgemälde von Ekaterina Moré

"Beauty will save the world."
Fyodor Dostoevsky

It's a phrase that sounds like a fairy tale – and perhaps that's precisely why it's true. In a world full of hustle and bustle, overstimulation, and pressure to be perfect, it reminds us of something much deeper: that beauty is more than just surface-level. It is a promise. A power. A way back to ourselves.

As if beauty were a counterbalance to all the noise out there. But what do we actually mean when we speak of "beauty"? And what power does it truly possess?

I want to invite you on a journey to a deeper, more comprehensive form of beauty. A beauty that doesn't just reside on surfaces, but touches our soul, reminds and inspires us. As an artist, I have dedicated myself to this form of beauty – in my work, in my daily life, in my own inner experience.

That's why I'm taking you into my world – into memories, thoughts on femininity, art, and philosophy. Because all these facets are part of the answer to the question for me: What is true beauty?

1. Kamchatka, Barrenness & the Inner Spark: How it all began

Schönheit rettet die Welt - Feminine Glamourism von Ekaterina Moré

Growing up in the snowy, endless winters of Kamchatka, my childhood was marked by a unique melancholy. Nature was vast, silent, and overpowering. Colors were few. But perhaps it was precisely this stark environment that so strongly awakened my longing for beauty, for the sensual and colorful.

In this cold, deprived world, my mother was like a light to me. A red-haired woman with a radiant aura, full of fiery energy, cultural depth, and a special sense of the art of living. Despite the adverse circumstances in the Soviet military garrison where we lived, she exuded a certain pride. Yet she often didn't see herself as beautiful. Her self-doubt touched me deeply. She was hard on herself, very self-critical, like many women of her generation. She was often strict and critical of her surroundings too. And perhaps precisely for this reason, the question began to grow within me: What is true beauty?

At 17, I bought my first anti-wrinkle cream. In a time when the Soviet Union was collapsing and chaos reigned in Russia, it was my attempt to preserve something important – perhaps also to slow down growing up a little in those turbulent times. In Slavic culture, beauty is highly valued. But it is also often linked to pressure, expectations, and societal norms.

Fyodor Dostoevsky wrote: "Beauty will save the world." A phrase as well-known in Russia as a folk song. But what does he mean by it? I believe: He speaks of a beauty that goes far beyond the superficial. A beauty that has to do with truth, depth, and inner radiance.

2. Beauty between Philosophy and Everyday Life

In Far Eastern philosophy, beauty is often associated with the inner light – a spiritual force that arises from the connection to one's own soul. There, beauty is less an object and more a state of being. It's not about possessing or achieving something, but about unfolding what is already within us: the quality of presence, gentleness, inner harmony. The beautiful life begins with the decision to let the light within oneself shine again.

Even in Greek philosophy, beauty was understood as something deep and meaningful. Plato spoke of "ideal beauty" as an image of the divine. For him, beauty was a path to truth, a gateway to knowledge. The contemplation of beauty was supposed to elevate, purify, and lead people into deeper spheres of the soul.

I myself perceive beauty as a fundamental need of our soul. It not only satisfies our sense of aesthetics, but also our desire for order, peace, and resonance. Beauty heals. It reminds us of what is possible. It connects us with ourselves and with each other.

When we enter beautiful spaces, look at pictures, or touch lovingly designed objects, something happens within us. Our breathing slows down. Our gaze softens. Our heart expands.

3. Femininity, Dignity, and Change: when women grow older

Many women around midlife experience a turning point. Youthful beauty fades, and with it often the self-perception that was connected to their reflection for years. Suddenly, many ask themselves: Who am I if I'm no longer young? And what makes me beautiful now?

In my conversations with clients, friends, and in my own reflection, I feel: New images are needed. New definitions. New voices that say: Your beauty is not over – it is just beginning anew.

It is the time when elegance gains depth. When femininity no longer strives for external validation, but rests within itself. When glamour is no longer loud, but sparkles quietly. It is also the time when our inner wisdom can take up more space – and the radiance comes from within. Women become lighthouses for others. Their charisma can inspire, encourage, and empower. They enter into stronger, more authentic connections with others. And that, for me, is true beauty: when the inside shows itself, bravely, vulnerably, powerfully.

4. Art as a Mirror of the Soul

Schönheit wird die Welt retten - Art Deco Originalgemälde von Ekaterina Moré

In my painting, I dedicate myself precisely to this moment: when a woman begins to see herself anew. My pictures show the radiant soul, the inner strength, the feminine beauty. Often the focus is on the eyes – they are the mirror of the soul, full of vitality and expression. The women depicted embody timeless grace, sensuality, and dignity.

I want to share a special experience: A man contacted me because he wanted to give a painting to his wife. She deeply doubted herself, no longer found herself beautiful. But he saw her with completely different eyes. "I want her to recognize herself again," he said. He sent me many photos of her, shared his thoughts about her nature, her essence, her favorite places.

If only women knew with what warmth and appreciation their men truly see them! It is always a great joy for me to encounter this appreciation and make it visible in my commissioned art.

I painted her in her favorite cafe, surrounded by warm light, with a gentle smile. When she received the painting, tears flowed. Her husband's thoughts, made visible in my art, touched her deeply. She said it was the most beautiful gift she had ever received.

Moments like these are proof to me: Beauty can really save something. Maybe not the whole world at once. But a soul. A relationship. A view of oneself.

5. Feminine Glamourism: The Power of Female Radiance

Moderner Art Deco - Feminine Glamourism im Interior

My art moves in the tension between inner light and outer splendor. Under the term Feminine Glamourism, I combine timeless femininity with modern Art Deco style. It is a style that draws inspiration from the retro glamour of the 1920s through the 90s, without ever appearing old-fashioned.

For me, Feminine Glamourism means: a woman who is aware of her own radiance, doesn't hide, but enjoys it. Her elegance does not arise from external perfection, but from presence, posture, and brilliance. Glamour is not a mask, but an expression of inner light.

I love to combine these elements in my paintings: the clear lines of Art Deco, the extravagant fashion of past decades, the glow of female sensuality. This creates an art form that is both modern and nostalgic – and above all: touching.

6. "Elegance in Everyday Life" – How we can live beauty

Beauty is not a luxury. It is a life-giving elixir. We need it not only in museums or on the catwalk, but in smaller, quieter moments of life – a cup of coffee in a beautiful setting, in a special dress, in the way we arrange our space.

"Elegance in everyday life" means to me: Lovingly choose what brings us joy. Live mindfully. Nourish our senses. Consciously share our own radiance with others.

When I work on my pieces, I immerse myself in these worlds. The noise of the world recedes. I enter a state of flow where everything connects: color, form, feeling. This experience – immersing oneself in beauty – is healing for me. And it is precisely this feeling that I want to convey with my art.

A painting on the wall can be an anchor. A reminder of our own depth. A silent affirmation: There is a radiance within you. Let it shine, even when everyday life is grey.

7. Self-worth through beauty: From functioning to radiating

Originalgemälde Feminine Glamourism - Schönheit rettet die Welt

Many women tell me that they often "function" in everyday life. Career, family, organization – everything is running. But something is missing. Joy. Sensuality. Lightness.

I believe: Beauty can be a portal to reconnect with oneself. If we allow ourselves to see ourselves with loving eyes, consciously design our surroundings, surround ourselves with art, music, or nature, then something happens within us. Our self-worth is no longer defined externally, but nourished from within.

Tips to promote your radiance:

  • Treat yourself to small rituals: a scent that envelops you, a candle that inspires meditation.

  • Read inspiring books that empower and uplift you.

  • Listen to music that moves and enlivens you.

  • Decorate your surroundings with loving details – a flower, beautiful lighting, a work of art.

  • Look at yourself in the mirror with a gentle gaze. And smile at yourself.

8. Imagine...

Art Deco Originalgemälde von Ekaterina Moré - Schönheit wird die Welt retten

You wake up. Light dances through the curtains. You drink your coffee and your gaze falls on a picture. It shows you – not as you looked yesterday, but as you truly are. Radiant. Whole. Alive. You breathe deeply. And smile.

Such moments are not fantasy. They are possible. They begin with the decision to make space for your own beauty again.

Beauty is the beginning of everything

Perhaps beauty won't save the world on a grand scale overnight. But it can change your personal world – a little each day, with every loving glance, every beautiful detail, every moment that touches your soul.

Many people strive to improve the whole world without starting with themselves. But what if we first made our own environment a little brighter and more loving – and thus inspired others? If you don't cultivate your own radiance, you can hardly bring about sustainable change for the general public.

Therefore, I invite you to cultivate beauty in everyday life: be it through art, through small rituals, or through your attitude towards life. This is where the true miracle begins: within yourself. And once you let your light shine, it will also inspire others.
