Messe Rheingolf attracts thousands of interested visitors to Büderich
The premiere of Rheingolf in the Schmiedehalle at the Böhler site was only 90 minutes old yesterday when the 1000th visitor passed through the gates of the trade fair, as announced by owner Frank Dehorn, CEO of Böhler AG. "There was already a queue outside the door at 10 AM," reported economic development officer Heike Reiß.
The offerings, which around 250 exhibitors from 15 countries on 8000 square meters of hall space tried to make palatable to visitors, were fascinating not only for professionals. Of course, there were clubs and shoes, golf trips and caddies, as well as artificial greens for living rooms and offices. One could also elegantly weave through the crowds in a golf cart traveling at 15 km/h during a test drive.
"Are you a slave to your golf club?"
A book author promoted his "New Golf Testament." There were flying robots and mechanical relaxation loungers to admire. And in the golf clinic, tips were given on "how to always get under the ball" or questions were asked like "Are you a slave to your club?"
"Such an event with thousands of visitors is, of course, a great opportunity for us as a city to present ourselves to a broad public," said Mayor Dieter Spindler. "As an instrument of city marketing, as a boosting element for hotels and restaurants, this trade fair for Meerbusch cannot be valued highly enough," added Heike Reiß.
To show itself from its best side, the city had specially compiled a flyer "Meerbusch in five minutes" with all important information. The artist Ekaterina Moré exhibited her commissioned portrait of a sophisticated golfer, created especially for the trade fair. And next to the Meerbusch stand, the local golf park in Büderich, with club manager Bernhard Lindenbuß, advertised for new members.
For Frank Dehorn, Rheingolf is only meant to be the start of a new era at the Böhler site. A sports travel fair starting November 15, like the golf fair with organizer Michael Jacoby, is already fixed, contracts for two other dates have already been signed, and a second edition of Rheingolf next year is firmly planned.
