In my painting, I often deal with the motif of a woman and a cat. For me, the cat symbolizes independence, beauty, and grace.
In many Asian cultures, especially in Japan, black cats are considered good luck charms and are widespread in advertising and popular culture. In Celtic and Egyptian mythology, too, cats have a special meaning as symbols of protection and good luck. In my hometown of St. Petersburg, cats are also considered good luck charms; even in one of the world's most famous museums, the Hermitage, over 50 cats live and are a tourist attraction.
